1970s Gretsch SSB Bop Kit 18-12-14 Tony Williams Yellow SOLD

These drums are just in from being used in a recording by jazz drummer Cecil Brooks III. Originally purchased by Buddy Miles in the 1970s, who wanted a kit "just like Tony's". Ultra-rare sizes of 14x18, 8x12, and 14x14, finished in original Tony Williams Yellow Lacquer. All 3 drums are 6 ply Jasper with original silver painted interiors, and original edges in great shape. Bass drum and floor tom have original paper tags, small tom just has a fragment of the tag left. These have been played and gigged quite a bit - original lacquer has plenty of wear, including dings, scratches, chips, crazing, and rash. Bass drum and small tom have covered extra holes where a Gretsch monster mount was installed...rail mount has a little aluminum plate under it to help cover the extra holes, only visible to the player...see last few photos. Chrome is outstanding. The most important thing is that these drums sound ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. We can't say enough about how good these sound, at all tuning ranges! Just a phenomenal little bop kit, with an unbelievable amount of mojo. Gretsch Floating Action Pedal included with purchase.
